The message I get from skype and the Camera app is that the camera does not exist! Hence, not a security issue per se. I noticed that the windows security permissions tab separates the Chrome based apps in a separate area after the Microsoft apps. I can now use the camera with Uberconference and with Zoom, but NOT with the Camera App or with Skype. On the first, I restored the driver from Lenovo site. The integrated camera 'dissappeared' from the device manager on both after a recent update of Windows 10.
These machines are no longer supported by Lenovo. I have a similar problem with my t410 laptops. As we are in Lockdown, I am working from home. This does not seem to be a Lenovo problem but a Windows issue. Windows security settings allow zoom, teams and camera to access the camera. I allowed Norton to give access to everything that asks to access my camera (except Chrome) The only solutions I could find on Google, is the steps I took above. Repeated previous process, but there is no Windows Update. Searched for and installed Windows Update - solved problem. I updated the driver (latest driver installed, but downloaded and re-installed the driver). I uninstalled the camera and rebooted the laptop (Lenovo). Camera goes on (can see the light next to the camera), but apps (camera, teams, zoom) shows no image.
This happened last year, after a Windows update and after hours of struggling, I was able to fix it with a Windows update.
